Ideas for making better pictures

Carry a camera with you always! You can't take a photo if you don't have your camera with you.

As you are going about your day and you see something to photograph, stop!!
Take the photo- it will never happen / present itself to you again.

When you see something you want to photograph in a better light, or another time of day, season, weather, etc, write it down.
Keep a notepad with you. Then when you have the time, or unusual weather, you'll be able to return.

Be aware of unusual light and weather conditions and how they can lead to awesome photos.

Low light in the evening or morning has its special qualities, heightening form and texture and color.

Weather- Rain, snow, fog each have their special qualities, simplifying and softening. Get out there and take pictures!

Tripod- Unintentional camera shake is avoided by using a tripod. Try one, it puts photo-taking in another category.
